The Buffalo Bills first playoff game of the 2023 season was going to be impacted by weather with forecasts calling for over a foot of snow during the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and upwards of three feet in the area. While the game was impacted by the weather, it was not in the way many expected as it was announced Saturday that the game has been postponed until Monday afternoon at 4:30 PM ET.

Tough weather conditions is not anything new for Highmark Stadium or Western New York. There has been plenty of instances playing in snow, like the Buffalo Bills vs. Indianapolis Colts in 2017 where LeSean McCoy would seal the victory over the Colts in overtime with a 21-yard run.

However, with travel being very tough, there was going to be a travel ban in place during this time and this played a factor in the decision to postpone the game.

Postponing the game could actually help the Buffalo Bills

Strictly from a game perspective, this could actually help the Buffalo Bills. When considering the conditions, between the snow and the wind, it would actually make this game much closer. The Bills are considered heavy favorites but if they are not able to throw the ball as much with Josh Allen and play a more conservative game by running the ball, it would limit their scoring.

Meanwhile, the Steelers are probably more suited for this type of game as they can lean on Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren while taking pressure off Mason Rudolph. With the weather not as much of a factor, the Bills offense should be able to throw more. This would hopefully help them build a big lead and force the Steelers to throw the ball more than they would want.
