The Buffalo Bills got a huge win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14 that kept their playoff hopes alive. However, there is still work to do as the Bills are 7-6 and one of five teams in the AFC with seven wins fighting for a Wild Card spot.
This week, the Bills return to Highmark Stadium for their first game at home in almost a month when they beat the New York Jets 32-6 in Week 11. When looking ahead to this game, these are the five biggest questions for the Bills.
Can the Buffalo Bills stop Micah Parsons?
The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best defensive players in the NFL presently in Micah Parsons. He is a matchup nightmare for opposing offenses and Parsons is almost unblockable when getting to the quarterback.
The former first round pick is in his third season in the NFL and has been a first-team All-Pro each of the first two years and he might be even better this season. This season he already has 12.5 sacks in 13 games (one sack away from tying his career high) and 27 QB hits (three away from his career high).
The offensive line has been better protecting Josh Allen this season but Micah Parsons will really test how good they are.
Can Josh Allen avoid throwing an interception?
Whichever team protects the football better in this game could end up deciding the outcome in this game. The Buffalo Bills defense ranks second in the NFL with 23 takeaways while the Cowboys are not far behind with 21 takeaways.
The difference between the two teams is how many times they turn it over as the Bills have 19 turnovers while the Cowboys have only 11. One of the big culprits for the turnovers for the Buffalo Bills has been Josh Allen.
The Bills quarterback has thrown at least one interception in nine straight games and will need to protect the football in this game. The Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland currently leads the league with eight interceptions while returning five of them for touchdowns.
When going against an offense like the Cowboys, the last thing the Buffalo Bills can do is give them a short field or even an opportunity to return it for a touchdown.
Can the Buffalo Bills keep the Cowboys offense under 30 points?
The Dallas Cowboys currently lead the NFL in points scored per game with an average of 32.4 points per game. Particularly as of late, the Cowboys have been putting up huge point totals in games and currently have scored 30 or more points in five straight games.
During their current stretch of games with 30 or more points, the Cowboys have played the Eagles, Seahawks, Commanders, Panthers, and Giants. The Cowboys haven't been playing great defenses and there is a case that the Buffalo Bills are the best they have gone against since Week 5 when they played the San Francisco 49ers.
This will be a good test for the Bills defense who did a good job containing Patrick Mahomes but did struggle slowing down Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense before the bye.
Can the Buffalo Bills keep CeeDee Lamb out of the end zone?
One of the key focuses for Sean McDermott and the Bills defense will be to slow down wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys wide receiver currently is third in the NFL in receiving yards with 1,253, third in receptions with 96, and tied for fourth in touchdowns with eight.
However, Lamb started the year off slow but recently has been playing better than any wide receiver in the NFL. He currently has a five game streak with at least one touchdown and has seven in the past seven games.
This would be a game that the Buffalo Bills would love to have Tre'Davious White out there as he excels against top wide receivers like Lamb. The pressure now falls on Rasul Douglas and Christian Benford and if they can win this matchup, it will be a big boost for the Bills.
Will Stefon Diggs break 100 receiving yards?
While CeeDee Lamb has been playing his best football of the season, Stefon Diggs seems to be heading the other way. The Buffalo Bills wide receiver had 100 or more receiving yards in five of the first six games of the season.
He was on pace to have another incredible season with the Bills but as of late has been almost a non-factor. Diggs hasn't had a game with 100 or more receiving yards in seven straight games and has caught fewer than 50% of his targets the last two weeks with 10 receptions on 22 targets.
This week is not going to get any easier for Diggs as the Cowboys have Stephon Gilmore, who is playing excellent recently, and Bland. It does not get any easier for Stefon Diggs but the Buffalo Bills are going to need him to be more productive if they hope to keep pace with this offense.
