Keon Coleman gives NSFW recap of up-and-down rookie season with Bills

Self-awareness is always good, I guess.

It wasn't exactly a rookie season to remember for Keon Coleman. Considering how impactful rookie wide receivers are across the league right now, Coleman's 29-catch, 500-yard (ish), 4-touchdown season felt, at times, pretty underwhelming.

Missing almost a quarter of the season with injuries certainly didn't help, but it's hard to argue that Coleman's rookie season was all that successfull, especially as the Bills' supposed #1 receiver. In fact, he's not even arguing that: while talking with reporters after one of the Bills' minicamp practices this week, Coleman didn't hold back when asked about how he thought his first year in the league went.

Keon Coleman's recap of his rookie season with Bills is painfully honest

"You want to know exactly what I see? When that s--- trash, you got to be better, simple as that," Coleman said. "You gotta be more efficient here. You gotta get out of this break. You got to stack your DB. You got to give Josh more room to throw the ball. You gotta catch that. You gotta make that block. You got to get that extra effort on the touchdown block so if Jimbo (James Cook) breaks it, he's up the sideline. Just different things like that. Calling out everything that you're doing wrong to make it right."

It's a little harsh, but Coleman's not exactly wrong. Outside of Week 7's four-catch, 125-yard day against the Titans, his week-by-week stat lines were pretty underwhelming. Points for self-awareness, though! And I'm sure there's a good chunk of Bills fans who love to hear this type of accountability – even if it doesn't ever actually translate to better games.

The good news is that the Bills still managed to be, you know, pretty good without a huge contribution from Coleman in Year 1. And if he can help them beat the Chiefs in one (1) single, very specific game, a 500-yard season will be just fine.
