Darnell Washington
The last player might be a surprise to many but would make a lot of sense for the Buffalo Bills and the impact they could have on this offense. Darnell Washington out of Georgia was one of the most talked about prospects at the NFL Combine because of his size and athleticism along with making this incredible catch during workouts.
Washington wasn’t utilized much as a receiver with only 45 career receptions, 774 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns. However, when he did get the ball in his hands, he would make big plays with a career average of 17.2 yards per reception.
The reason that the Buffalo Bills would consider a tight end like Darnell Washington is that he would be the perfect complement to Dawson Knox. By adding a viable second tight end to this offense, it opens up so much of the playbook for Ken Dorsey.
However, Washington’s biggest impact, especially early in his career, will be in the running game. The Buffalo Bills have wanted to find improvements in this part of their offense and adding a tight end who is 6’4″ and 264 pounds is like adding a super athletic sixth offensive lineman that can get out front and block for James Cook or Damien Harris.
If the Buffalo Bills were to draft a tight end in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, it would likely be Darnell Washington and he could make an immediate impact on this offense.
