Prior to workouts for tight ends, Darnell Washington described him as the most unique player at his position. It was certainly easy to see with him standing at 6’7″ and 264 pounds but once he started going through workouts, that sentiment was solidified by Washington.
He moved incredibly well for a player of his size with an excellent 40-yard dash time of 4.64 seconds and had the second-best athleticism score for tight ends by Next-Gen Stats. However, the biggest reason Wahsington is a player the Buffalo Bills should be excited about was what he showed as a receiver.
During his time at Georgia, he didn’t get many opportunities to make an impact as a receiver but that was due more to the offense the Bulldogs’ run. In Indianapolis though, he made this incredible catch that created a lot of buzz for Washington.
If the Buffalo Bills were to add a player like Darnell Washington, it would create a lot of flexibility in their offensive scheme and what they can run. He is a player that can allow the Bills to run two-tight end sets with Dawson Knox but also give them a player who can really help the run game basically as an extra offensive lineman with his size.
