Who is the ‘next man up’ for the Buffalo Bills with latest round of injuries?
Offensive Line
The interior of the offensive line could potentially see some shuffling this week as Ryan Bates is in concussion protocol and his replacement, Tommy Doyle, suffered a torn ACL and is done for the year.
If Bates is able to return, then this isn’t as big of a concern because he steps right back into the starting lineup and the Bills will get Bobby Hart back, who served a one-game suspension in Week 3, to be the backup guard and tackle.
However, if Bates is not able to return then the coaching staff may be forced to shuffle players around. The Bills could have Bobby Hart step into the starting lineup at guard or even have Greg Van Roten replace Bates against the Ravens.
Greg Van Roten started for the Bills at center in place of the injured Mitch Morse and the hope is that Morse is able to return for Sunday’s game against the Ravens. If Morse, and Bates, are not able to play then it will really become a case of musical chairs as the best starting five might be moving Van Roten to guard and have Greg Mancz step in as the starting center.
