Buffalo Bills missed Mitch Morse

The headlines entering this game were around the losses in the secondary with Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, and Dane Jackson all out this week. However, the absence of Mitch Morse was equally important in this game as the offensive line struggled without the veteran on the field.

The Bills had Greg Van Roten replace Morse at center and he struggled with some of his snaps, like on the opening drive in the red zone. The Bills were able to score a touchdown but it was a sign of things to come.

In addition, the Bills’ protection, seemed to struggle as Allen was sacked three times in the first half and would finish the game being sacked four times. This is where Morse was probably missed the most as the offensive line did not do a great job picking up blitzes by Miami.

Awful sequence at the end of the first half

The absence of Mitch Morse also cost the Buffalo Bills points at the end of the first half, and potentially the game. The Bills were trying to get into field goal range and looked to be at that point but as the Bills tried to spike the ball to stop the clock to get Tyler Bass onto the field it was a bad snap between Greg Van Roten and Josh Allen.

Once the ball was on the ground, Allen wouldn’t have been able to spike it and had to throw a quick out to Stefon Diggs that ended the first half as time expired and the Bills didn’t even get a chance to attempt to break the tie at 14 apiece.
