Taron Johnson

The Buffalo Bills are going to be inexperienced on the outside but fortunately, have an excellent nickel corner in Taron Johnson. This is especially important in this matchup as the Rams have wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who is one of the best slot receivers in the league.

Since 2019, Kupp leads the league in receptions out of the slot with 244 according to Pro Football Focus. However, the Rams do move him around a bit and it wouldn’t be surprising if they move Kupp outside more than usual and test the outside cornerbacks.

One thing to watch in this game is if the Rams actually play three wide receivers or if they only have two on the field and potentially force the Bills out of nickel. The Rams’ number three wide receiver Van Jefferson had a knee scope at the beginning of August and did not practice on Monday.

It will be interesting to see what formations the Rams use in this game and how the Buffalo Bills respond.
