Buffalo Bills’ offensive line wins the battle at the line of scrimmage

One of the reasons the Bills running backs had such a good day was due to the blocking the offensive line had upfront. There was certainly going to be a question about how the offensive line might look considering they haven’t really had much time to practice together this year due to injuries.

However, the starting five which included Dion Dawkins, Rodger Saffold, Mitch Morse, Ryan Bates, and David Quessenberry did an excellent job when on the field to start the game. These five gave the running backs huge running lanes and also protected Josh Allen and Case Keenum as neither quarterback was sacked or even hit.

Then in the second quarter, it was the second team, and once again it was more of the same as the offensive line continued to win in the trenches. The performance of the offensive line as a whole is a testament to the job Aaron Kromer has done in a short period of time since being named offensive line coach.

One point to note and worth watching moving forward is that Spencer Brown was with the second team. He was expected to be the starter at right tackle after a promising rookie season but has been working his way back from an offseason back procedure and was limited most of training camp.

During that time, Quessenberry has been with the starters and has done a good job to this point. It will be interesting to see whether Quessenberry stays in the starting role or if Brown eventually returns to that spot.
