Who starts opposite Dane Jackson?

Last week, the Buffalo Bills had both of their rookies start at cornerback with Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford while Dane Jackson was held out for the Colts game. The fact that both rookies got to play didn’t give an indication of who might be leading in the battle between Elam and Benford.

However, the depth chart at the position should come into focus on Saturday against the Denver Broncos. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier this week did say that Dane Jackson was ahead of the rookies on the depth chart so he should be one of the starters in this game.

The question now will be who starts opposite Jackson between Elam and Benford. Both cornerbacks have had their moments and each played well in the Colts game with both having one pass breakup.

The thought would be that Elam would get the start as he was the team’s first round pick but Benford has played well and it shouldn’t just be assumed that Elam gets the start on Saturday. Whoever does start should be considered the one in the lead for the starting job in Week 1 if Tre’Davious White is not ready.
