Jaquan Johnson

The rookie cornerbacks aren’t the only player in the secondary worth watching in this game as Jaquan Johnson should also get extended playing time in this game. The reason that Johnson is a player to pay extra attention to is that he is the one most likely to replace Jordan Poyer.

The Bills’ All-Pro safety suffered an elbow injury during training camp and the good news is that it wasn’t too serious and he should be able to return in time for the regular season. However, the Bills coaching staff will need to determine whether Johnson is able to replace Poyer or Hyde during the regular season if either is forced to miss time.

Johnson has been with the Buffalo Bills since 2019 when they drafted him in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. However, the Bills’ starting safeties have not missed much time since joining Buffalo and this limits Johnson’s opportunities to see the field during the regular season.

He did get a chance to start in Week 4 last year and looked good in the Bills’ blowout win against the Texans, even recording an interception. This will just be another opportunity to give fans a chance to see what he can do in a game on Saturday against the Colts.
