Buffalo Bills 53-man roster projection before training camp

Like the past few seasons, the Buffalo Bills wide receiver room will come down to how many receivers they decide to keep. The Bills have five locks to make the roster Diggs, Davis, Crowder, McKenzie, and Shakir.

After that, three or four guys could push for Buffalo’s last spot or two. Currently, I project the Bills only keep six wide receivers, and the last one is primarily a player on special teams. This could be in the form of a returner or a player who is used on all of the punt and kickoff units.

I think that the returner position is currently Isaiah Mckenzie’s to lose, meaning that Jake Kumerow will slide into the last receiver spot as a special teams player.

However, the kick-returning role is wide open for players like Marquez Stevenson or Tavon Austin to win. This could likely be the way for these guys to make the roster. One dark horse to make the team is Isaiah Hodgins. Hodgins has been a practice squad member for the last two seasons and has never been able to make the team.

Outside of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, the Bills do not have a good boundary option amongst the group. Hodgins is that type of player and the only one outside of Diggs and Davis who could make the roster.
