Similar to defensive tackle, the Buffalo Bills had three defensive ends set to be free agents this offseason. The depth at that position is critical to how Sean McDermott and Leslie Frazier like to run their defense as they rotate players regularly with no player at the position playing more than 55% of the defensive snaps last year.

However, Buffalo has seemingly solidified that position after the surprising signing of Von Miller but also bringing back former first round pick Shaq Lawson.

George Karlaftis is a well-rounded defensive end out of Purdue that not only can rush the passer but also does a good job setting the edge against the run. He would have made sense for Buffalo to pair with Greg Rousseau and replace Jerry Hughes on the other end.

The reason that Karlaftis is a player they probably shouldn’t consider is the top of the depth chart is set for the next few years with Miller, Rousseau, Boogie Basham, and A.J. Epenesa which would make it tough for him to find snaps to make an impact. It doesn’t make sense to have to use an early draft pick on a player that would have a tough path to playing time.
