Buffalo Bills 5-Round 2022 Mock Draft after one week of free agency
Round 2, Pick 57: John Metchie, WR (Alabama)
In the second round, the Buffalo Bills stay on the offensive side of the ball and select wide receiver John Metchie out of Alabama.
The scouting report on The Draft Network describes a player who “is an elite athlete that has exceptional start-stop ability and also possesses electric speed that makes him a scoring threat on every play. Uses his speed to run deep overs, which have been a classic in the Alabama offense over the years.”
In the final two seasons with Alabama, Metchie had over 2,000 receiving yards with 14 receiving touchdowns. One of the biggest concern with John Metchie is that he did suffer a torn ACL towards the end of the season last year. He would unlikely be ready for the start of the year, which isn’t necessarily an issue, but Buffalo will need to be confident in his recovery to use a second round pick on him.
The Buffalo Bills will be looking for a new slot receiver this year with Cole Beasley being released and likely will give Isaiah McKenzie the first chance to replace him. However, adding a player like John Metchie who eventually could split responsibilities with McKenzie could be a nice addition to this offense.
