Buffalo Bills: Early look at free agent cornerbacks to consider in 2022
Steven Nelson
The next cornerback is one that the Buffalo Bills seemingly were interested in signing last offseason. Steven Nelson is a veteran cornerback who started his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, playing four seasons there.
He would then play two years with the Steelers and is currently in his first year with the Philadelphia Eagles. He has 83 career starts with 58 passes defended and eight interceptions.
While Nelson has the experience, the Buffalo Bills will need to address what has seemingly been a downward trend in performance since 2018 when he had four interceptions. He has had only four total in the past three years and quarterbacks have had more success throwing his way with the QB rating steadily increasing from 65.8 in 2019 to 97.0 last year and currently at 109.2 this season.
The talent is certainly there and putting a player like Nelson in this defense with players like Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde, and Tre’Davious White could help him reverse this trend and have a career year with Buffalo. This could be another free agent signing that becomes a bargain when it is all said and done.
