The reason that Johnson needs to have a good game is that the competition at the position is just so tough. The depth the team has at defensive end means Darryl Johnson needs to continue to string good performances together if he hopes to earn a roster spot.
The coaching staff is going to have some tough decisions on what they do at this position, along with defensive tackle. The Buffalo Bills have a number of players, like Carlos Basham Jr. and Efe Obada, who can move inside to play defensive tackle on passing downs, which makes it like the defensive line needs to be looked at as a whole when determining the 53-man roster.
If Darryl Johnson can show improvements at defensive end, combined with the fact that he is a key part of the special teams unit, could be enough to earn a roster spot but would likely put more pressure on this next player.
