Offensive Tackle

The Buffalo Bills have one of the better starting tackle duos in the NFL with Dion Dawkins on the left and Daryl Williams on the right. However, after these starters, there has to be some concern especially if either starter misses time, specifically at left tackle.

The coaching staff is getting a chance to see this first hand with Dion Dawkins missing the start of training camp after being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Sean McDermott said on Sunday that Dawkins is “not close to where he needs to be.”

On Friday night against the Lions, Spencer Brown got the start at left tackle and while he showed some good things, it is clear he isn’t ready to be a starter for multiple weeks. The other tackles on the roster, Tommy Doyle and Bobby Hart, also didn’t do anything that should give the coaching staff confidence to protect the blindside of their franchise quarterback.

Last year, the Bills had the experience Ty Nsekhe to backup their starting tackles but he left this offseason in free agency. The team then signed Bobby Hart to fill this role but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bills re-evaluate the free agent market or players who are released during roster cutdowns as options.
