The pressure is certainly on Jake Fromm, who was a fifth round pick last year by the Buffalo Bills. However, with the preseason canceled, the former University of Georgia quarterback has yet to take an NFL snap, either in the regular season or preseason.

At the time of the 2020 NFL Draft, Fromm was considered to be the future backup at the position as the Bills did have Matt Barkley, but he was entering the final year of his contract. This offseason the front office decided to look outside the organization by signing free agent Mitchell Trubisky.

Jake Fromm now enters this season competing for third string with Davis Webb and it appears it’s a position battle he is losing. This week, Fromm was listed behind Webb on the depth chart and could be an indication that he is fighting for a roster spot.

A good game against the Lions could be exactly what Jake Fromm needs to move up the depth chart and once again be considered the future backup to Josh Allen.
