Third Tight End

The top two tight end spots are locked up by Dawson Knox and Jacob Hollister. The third spot is up for grabs. Tommy Sweeney who has had that role in the past missed all of last year due to complications from COVID-19. He will battle with Quinton Morris, Nate Becker, and Bug Howard for the last spot on the roster and maybe a practice squad spot as well. Knox and Hollister may get some snaps but expect most of it to be from those behind them.

Not only will it be key to watch what those guys do in the passing game but more importantly as blockers. Buffalo lost Lee Smith this offseason who was primarily a blocker and offered not much else. Look for the Buffalo Bills and general manager Brandon Beane to really value blocking ability in the third guy.

While none of the players vying for that last spot are up to Lee Smith’s level it will be important for the Bills to get quality blocking from their tight ends this year to help improve the run game that often held Buffalo back at times last season.
