Wide Receivers (6)

  • Stefon Diggs
  • Emmanuel Sanders
  • Cole Beasley
  • Gabriel Davis
  • Isaiah McKenzie
  • Jake Kumerow

Cut: Isaiah Hodgins, Marquez Stevenson, Duke Williams, Tanner Gentry, Brandon Powell, Lance Lenior

Although we are only a week into camp it already looks like the wide receiver battle is becoming much more clear. The top four were set headed into camp. Stefon Diggs, Emmanuel Sanders, Cole Beasley, and Gabe Davis are all locked onto the roster. Although only a week in reports from camp indicate that Isaiah McKenzie may have locked up his spot after a great camp so far as a receiver and the only man in the return competition who has not made big mistakes.

Rounding out the group is the man who Aaron Rodgers referred to when grilling the Packers organization with how they handled some players. Rodgers called Jake Kumerow the Packers “second-best receiver in training camp last season”. Kumerow caught a touchdown and played a big special teams role for Buffalo last season before being cut because of John Brown’s return from injury. Not only has he had success before and has had a ton this camp but he seems to be loved by his teammates in Buffalo. I would not call the competition for the sixth spot over quite yet but after the praise, Kumerow has received only a week in do not be shocked if that spot is not more Kumerow’s to lose more than anything else.

"“Isaiah McKenzie looks unguardable. Has put on a clinic as a route runner, lightning cuts…Jake Kumerow is not going anywhere. Not sure if I can say where he was playing so let’s just say he had a busy practice ” –Marcel Louis-Jacques, ESPN"

The advantage of the Buffalo Bills being very good is that they may release some solid talent. Isaiah Hodgins and Marquez Stevenson are both late-round draft picks who have solid potential. Duke Williams, Tanner Gentry, Brandon Powell, and Lance Lenior all have made NFL rosters in the past and are more than capable of doing so at this stage in their careers.

Expect possibly a couple of these names to end up on the practice squad for Buffalo. A surprise name who could make the practice squad could be Duke Williams. A mainstay in years past Duke Williams has been somewhat of an afterthought this season. However, he still remains one of the biggest targets Buffalo has, and stashing him on the practice squad could offer the Bills a different play style than most of what they have.
