Isaiah McKenzie

Isaiah McKenzie’s value as a gimmicky gadget player for the Buffalo Bills should be acknowledged; he has been great in the role. Unfortunately for McKenzie, gadget players are becoming easier and easier to find these days.

McKenzie is good at what he does, but he does not play a major role in the Buffalo offense like other gadget players do (think Christian McCaffery, Curtis Samuel, Deebo Samuel, Taysom Hill, etc.).

McKenzie was re-signed on a one year, $1.1M deal, likely ensuring his tenure in Buffalo lasts at least one more year. McKenzie will also take over kick and punt return duties this season due to the departure of All-Pro return man Andre Roberts.

With second year Oregon State product Isaiah Hodgins and rookie Marquez Stevenson eyeing the roles that McKenzie currently fills, his time as a Buffalo Bills may be coming to a close as soon as the 2022 offseason.

McKenzie would likely have a few more years left with the Bills if they did not have such a talented receiving core, but since they do, he may be gone after the 2021 season.

McKenzie will likely have to excel in his role on special teams in order to stick around after 2021.
