Can Spencer Brown be the backup offensive tackle?

The Buffalo Bills saw Ty Nsekhe leave in free agency and there is now an opening to be the swing backup tackle, essentially being the primary backup at left and right tackle. While the Bills did sign Bobby Hart, who has starting experience, the hope is that Spencer Brown could come in and win that job.

Brown, was a third round pick by the Buffalo Bills and is similar to Greg Rousseau in that his measurables are off the chart (6’8″ and 311 pounds), and didn’t get a chance to play last season. Spencer Brown played at the University of Northern Iowa and the university elected to cancel the season due to the pandemic.

The other question for Brown is how he will do transitioning from the level of competition at the Missouri Valley Football Conference to the NFL. Some players at smaller schools have struggled in this regard.

If Spencer Brown is able to win this job, it can free up a roster spot because the Bills could release, or look to trade, Bobby Hart.
