Signing Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde

During Sean McDermott’s first offseason with the Buffalo Bills, he brought in two safeties that had been overlooked and underutilized by their previous teams. Those safeties were Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer.

Once Hyde and Poyer took to the field for Buffalo, they flourished in McDermott’s defense. In 2017, both Hyde and Poyer had five interceptions. Hyde also finished with 82 combined tackles, and Poyer finished with 95.

From 2018 on, Poyer has not made less than 100 combined tackles. Hyde has intercepted nine passes during his time in Buffalo; he also has forced two fumbles and recovered two fumbles during that time span.

Across the field from Hyde, Poyer has intercepted 13 passes during his tenure in Buffalo, while also forcing six fumbles and recovering five of them.

Poyer and Hyde have been a sensational duo for the Bills, and one that forces quite a few turnovers for the Buffalo defense.

They are quite an underrated safety tandem as well, as Hyde has only made the pro bowl once while in Buffalo despite being a quality safety; Poyer has been left out of the pro bowl entirely, much to his dismay.
