Mario Addison

The defensive end position opposite Jerry Hughes was essentially split between Trent Murphy, who was the starter in the first half of the year, and then Mario Addison, who started the final five games he played in along with all three playoff games.

This offseason, the thought was that Mario Addison would be cut due to his contract and the cap savings the Bills would be able to get along with low production. However, he agreed to a salary cut and looks as if he will be apart of this defense this coming season.

Even though Addison will remain on the roster, he will likely be a situational pass rusher as the Buffalo Bills have some other players that will push for the starting job. The player that should be considered the favorite would be A.J. Epenesa.

He was a second round pick in the last NFL Draft and got off to a slow start to his rookie season. However, he finished the year playing well and with a full offseason should have him in a position to compete for that starting job.

Epenesa though isn’t the only player at the position as the Buffalo Bills also signed Efe Obada, who recently was with the Carolina Panthers and had 5.5 sacks in only 39% of the defensive snaps. He is another player that could be a surprise in training camp and potentially earn the starting job.
