Rookie of the Year

Winner: Tyler Bass

The winner for Rookie of the Year was essentially a two man race between Tyler Bass and Gabriel Davis as both are deserving. Davis, the team’s fourth-round pick, finished second on the team in receiving touchdowns with seven and started a number of games in place of the injured John Brown.

However, Tyler Bass was the team’s starting kicker for the entire season and while he started the year a little shaky, he was almost automatic over the second half of the year. Bass finished the season making 28 of 34 field goal attempts but didn’t have a miss in the regular season after Week 9.

The one thing that was the most impressive about Tyler Bass was his leg strength as he went 4 of 6 on attempts over 50 yards during the regular season and one of those misses was a 61-yard attempt against the Seattle Seahawks. He also had three attempts over 50 yards in the playoffs and made all three.

The Buffalo Bills took a gamble at the start of the season by releasing veteran Stephen Hauschka and going with Tyler Bass. However, by the end of the season, it was clear the team made the right choice.
