Buffalo Bills: Early look at 5 free agents to target this offseason
Chidobe Awuzie
The last position the Buffalo Bills could try to address this offseason is cornerback. This is something that hasn’t been a priority for most of Brandon Beane’s tenure and he has tried to get by with Levi Wallace and older veterans like Josh Norman.
The Bills were able to sign Tre’Davious White to a five-year deal before the season and adding a younger player like Chidobe Awuzie gives them two starters locked in for years to come.
Awuzie has started 41 games in four seasons and has primarily been the full-time starter since 2018 but has only played five games due to injury. For his career, he has 198 total tackles, 35 passes defended, and four interceptions.
When coming out of college, the scouting report on Awuzie was that he fit best zone coverage, which is something the Bills’ defense uses often. He also has experience playing outside and the slot and that versatility is something the front office looks for in its players.
If the Buffalo Bills want to find the long-term answer at cornerback, Chidobe Awuzie is a player who likely could be added for a reasonable contract.
