Secondary

Entering this week, the Buffalo Bills secondary faced the biggest challenge because the Steelers have excellent depth at wide receiver. They not only have players like Chase Claypool, who creates mismatches with their size, but an excellent slot receiver in Juju Smith-Schuster.

However, it was without a double the secondary that won this matchup as they limited the Steelers wide receivers to only 139 receiving yards.

The stars of secondary were two unlikely heroes as Taron Johnson, the team’s starting nickel, made the play of the game when he picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown. This was the first defensive touchdown since 2017 and gave the Bills a 9-7 lead heading into halftime.

It was then in the second half, with Steelers down 11 midway through the fourth quarter when Levi Wallace made an incredible interception. The Bills would finish out the game with a drive that went over seven minutes to secure the victory.

When considering the opponent, this was one of the best games for the Buffalo Bills’ secondary all season.
