Bad game for Josh Allen still shows improvement

There is no question that this was not Josh Allen’s best performance this year against the Arizona Cardinals. However, when compared to his first two years in the league, there was still plenty of signs of improvement.

Allen finished the game with 284 passing yards, completing 65% of his passes with two passing touchdowns and two interceptions. The interceptions were certainly concerning, especially when considering that number could have been closer to four if Patrick Peterson didn’t drop two.

However, even with all the negatives from this game, these totals are significantly higher than what he was producing his first two years in the league. During that stretch, Allen was averaging 184 passing yards per game, a completion percentage around 55%, just over a touchdown, and .75 interceptions per game.

The biggest positive, and this is something that Allen has shown for most of his career, is that no matter how bad he is playing when the game is on the line, he answers the call. The Buffalo Bills were not moving the ball most of the second half and the prior drive before the Bills final drive, Allen had just thrown his second interception.

However, the Bills quarterback found another gear and drove the offense down the field, making key throw after key throw that was capped off by the Stefon Diggs touchdown.
