Buffalo Bills Special Teams

The special teams unit had a bit of an up and down game. The Bills punter, Corey Bojorquez, didn’t have much work as he had only one punt which went for 53 yards. Returner Andre Roberts also did a good job as he averaged nearly 14 yards per punt on five punt returns.

The down part was the performance of rookie Tyler Bass, as he finished making two of four field goal attempts, as well as connecting on three extra points. While there is some debate about whether he actually missed one of those attempts, he wasn’t entirely accurate. Even on some of the field goals, he did make, the ball would sneak just inside the upright.

This isn’t a reason to be completely concerned, especially considering he had no preseason games to work this year, it is worth monitoring as the season progresses.

Buffalo Bills Team Grade

There was plenty to like from this performance for the Buffalo Bills from Josh Allen throwing for over 300 yards, the offense as a whole gaining over 400, the team scoring 27 points, and the defense holding the Jets to 17 and forcing two turnovers.

The concern is that the New York Jets did not look like a very good team and this game was much closer than it should have been. The Bills did jump out to a 21 point lead but there were two fumbles in the first half that were likely to end up being more points for this team that really would have put this game out of reach.

At the end of the day, the Buffalo Bills were able to get the win and that is important. However, if the Bills want to be considered one of the best in the conference, there is room for improvement.
