Gabriel Davis’ role in this offense

One of the constants that has seemed to come out of every practice has been the play of Gabriel Davis. He is regularly making plays that are catching the attention of everyone involved.

The problem is the Buffalo Bills are pretty well set at the top of the depth chart with Stefon Diggs, John Brown and Cole Beasley. The question now becomes how much role will Gabriel Davis be able to play as a rookie?

The answer is, unless there is an injury, offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is going to have to get creative. Unless the Bills are going to limit the snaps of John Brown, or even Stefon Diggs, the Buffalo Bills could operate in more four wide receiver sets this coming year.

This would be a big shift from what the Buffalo Bills did last year. According to Sharp Football Stats, the Bills ran six total plays last year with four wide receivers on the field. This could have been due to the fact that the Bills just didn’t have the talent to warrant playing four wide or it is just not part of Brian Daboll’s playbook. This is one question that will likely be answered very early in the season.

Prediction: Bills will get Gabriel Davis on the field and will likely end up playing 25% of the offensive snaps.
