Willie Jefferson – Defensive End

With getting after the quarterback being a route to success, it would be extremely worthwhile for the Buffalo Bills to consider Winnipeg Blue Bomber defensive end, Willie Jefferson.

For three consecutive seasons, Jefferson has been arguably the CFL’s premier pass rusher. Racking up 30 sacks in three years, Jefferson has yet to encounter an offensive line he hasn’t been able to breakdown. Coming off a Grey Cup-winning 2019 season where he recorded 12 sacks,  24 tackles and an interception, his talents would certainly be welcomed by the Buffalo Bills.

Though the Bills have had one of the better defensive lines In the NFL, with Trent Murphy, and Jerry Hughes being their options aside from 2020 NFL Draft pick A.J. Epenesa and the free agents they brought in, depth is a question. It has yet to be decided if the team is going to keep Murphy on the roster for another season, elect to go with one of their free agents or start Epenesa right out of the gate.

The argument for bringing in Jefferson is simple, he can get after the quarterback. Though it is highly unlikely that if Jefferson was to be brought in that he would actually win a starting position, his addition to the team could provide immediate results through practice.

If the Bills offensive line, which is in dire need of stability at this moment, were to face off against such a prolific pass rusher like Jefferson, just having Jefferson going against them in practice could up the level of play from the Bills’ offensive line.
