Trade for a Cornerback

The final option for the Buffalo Bills would be to try and swing a trade for a cornerback. If the Bills were to go this route, they likely would be looking to add a player that wouldn’t require significant compensation but also someone who could step in right away.

Based on that criteria, there are two players that would make the most sense. The first player is someone who was with the Bills just last offseason in Kevin Johnson. The team added the former first round pick last offseason and he played well when given the chance.

While Johnson started only one regular season game he saw his playing time increase as he rotated with Levi Wallace. Over the final seven games, he played 35% or more of the defensive snaps in six of those games.

Johnson left in free agency and joined the Cleveland Browns but with the depth the Browns have they may consider trading the veteran corner.

Another potential trade option would be with the Dallas Cowboys for Daryl Worley. The Panthers drafted Worley in the 2016 NFL Draft and he started 11 games as a rookie with Sean McDermott as his defensive coordinator. He spent the past two years with the Raiders before signing with the Cowboys this offseason as a free agent.

Similar to Johnson, Worley may not be a starter for the Cowboys since they drafted two cornerbacks in the first four rounds of the NFL Draft.

While it is unlikely that Worley or Johnson could fill the role that Tre’Davious White plays in this defense, both could be starters for the Buffalo Bills this coming season.
