No touchdowns by the Bills’ defense the past two years

The Buffalo Bills defense has become one of the best in the league. They finished last year near the top of the league against the run, pass, forcing turnovers and in scoring defense.

One area that have surprisingly struggled is turning turnovers into points as they have not scored a defensive touchdown in two seasons. This is not because they haven’t been able to force turnovers because they finished 10th last year with 23 and eighth in 2018 with 27.

This drought is interesting because in 2017, the Bills defense finished the year with three defensive touchdowns (one interception and two fumbles returned for touchdowns). The scheme Sean McDermott runs usually results in a high volume of turnovers and should give the defense plenty of chances for touchdowns.

This is a trend that likely ends in 2020 for the Buffalo Bills.
