What is Tremaine Edmunds’ ceiling?

While Tre’Davious White gets a majority of the media and fans’ attention on the Buffalo Bills defense, there is certainly a case to be made that Tremaine Edmunds is the most important player on this side of the ball.

Edmunds, who was a first round pick by the Bills in 2018, stepped in almost immediately as the starting middle linebacker. He was put into a leadership role right from the start with the green dot, essentially getting all the play calls from the sideline. He is responsible for getting the players in the right position pre-snap.

This past year, Edmunds earned his first postseason award when he was selected to the Pro Bowl after his second consecutive 100+ total tackle season.

At only 22 years of age though, Edmunds is probably just scratching the surface of what he is able to do. The unique combination of size and speed, playing in Sean McDermott’s defense gives him a great opportunity to become one of the top middle linebackers in the NFL.

The one thing that Edmunds must improve on, and will help him take that next step, is decreasing the number of missed tackles. According to PFF, Edmunds ranked sixth in missed tackles last year with 17.
