Who wins that final wide receiver spot?

The top five spots on the depth chart are pretty much locked in with Diggs, Brown, Beasley, Davis and Hodgins. However, that final sixth spot, if the Bills even keep six wide receivers, is probably going to be one of the most competitive position battles this training camp.

The two probably with the best chance right now is Andre Roberts and Isaiah McKenzie, both for different reasons. For Roberts, the reason he would win that spot is due to his ability on special teams as he has been one of the top return men in the league the past two years. He has made the Pro Bowl each of those seasons and is a key part of the return game.

As for McKenzie, he has become a jack of all trades type specialist for this offense. He is a player that Daboll lines up at wide receiver and even running back utilizing him on jet sweeps and screens. In the one and half seasons with the Bills, he has 45 receptions, 433 receiving yards and one touchdown but also has 18 carries for 115 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

The question is do the Buffalo Bills feel they need that gadget type player or can John Brown or Stefon Diggs provide that explosive play ability.

After these two, there are still players like Duke Williams, who had 10 targets in the playoff game against the Houston Texans and Robert Foster, who was the team’s leading receiver in 2018.

Among these four wide receivers, likely only one is making the final roster and with limited preseason games, this is going to be a tough decision for the coaching staff.
