Do the Patriots get a quarterback Thursday night?

Another division rival, the New England Patriots, could be in the market for a quarterback after long-time starter Tom Brady left in free agency to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However, the Patriots are in a little bit of a different situation than the Miami Dolphins as they still have legitimate playoff aspirations but need a quarterback to make that happen.

The Patriots have essentially three options in front of them over the next few days to address the position. The first is they can wait on a quarterback at either 31st overall, or in later rounds, and get a quarterback like Jalen Hurts or Jordan Love.

The second option, which Peter King at FMIA predicts in his mock draft, is the Patriots trading up to grab Tua Tagovailoa if the former Alabama quarterback begins to slide. This would require some substantial draft capital but could be worth the move for a team in a win-now mode.

The third option, and this likely wouldn’t happen Thursday night, is if the Patriots trade for a veteran quarterback. The Bengals might be willing to move Andy Dalton if they take what is essentially expected to be a guarantee at this point with Joe Burrows.

The Patriots are a bit of a wild card on Thursday night and it will be interesting to see what they do in the first round and how they might address the quarterback position.
