Contract

Sometimes when a player is traded, the new team will negotiate a new deal with that player. However, if that doesn’t happen the Buffalo Bills get great value for a player in Stefon Diggs at the contract he currently has.

Diggs is under contract for the next four years with a cap hit of $11.5 million in 2020 and only $12 million dollars the next three years. In 2020, that is the 18th highest total among wide receivers and is similar to receivers like Larry Fitzgerald, Tyler Lockett and Tyrell Williams, according to Spotrac.

There is no question that Diggs is the best among that group and in terms of age, production and salary this is a home run for the Bills.

Many fans will point to some of the negatives of this deal and the concerns around Stefon Diggs. Over the years, he has gotten the label of being somewhat of a diva. However, since joining the Bills, Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane have talked about building a culture. This is one of those reasons teams build those cultures, is so they can identify a player that the good outweighs the concerns and have faith that the culture is strong enough.

In the end, this is a move that should pay tremendous dividends for the Josh Allen, this offense and the Buffalo Bills.
