Ross Cockrell

If the Buffalo Bills are looking for a low-cost option to add depth at cornerback than a player like Ross Cockrell makes a great deal of sense. He was drafted by the Bills in 2014 in the fourth round but played only one season with the team.

Since then he played two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015 and 2016, and actually started every game for the Steelers in 2016. He was then traded to the New York Giants, playing the 2017 season with them, and most recently has been with the Carolina Panthers the past two years.

However, he missed the entire 2018 season due to a broken leg.

If the Buffalo Bills decide not to bring back Kevin Johnson and continue to go with Levi Wallace for another season, a player like Cockrell isn’t a bad option. He is only 28 years of age and has experience as a starting cornerback in this league. While he may not have experience playing in the same defense he did during his first run with the Bills, he is coming from Carolina where they still run a similar defense from when Sean McDermott was their defensive coordinator.
