Mario Addison

The pipeline between the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills has been working overtime since Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane joined the Bills. There is no reason not to tap into one more time to address the defensive end position.

The Carolina Panthers are a team that could be in full rebuild mode with a new head coach with Matt Rhule, and potentially a new quarterback. If they do plan to rebuild a player like Mario Addison provides more value through a trade then playing one or more two seasons.

The reason the Panthers would consider trading Addison is because he has been in the league awhile and at 32 years of age the question of how much time he has left is probably being asked more frequently.

As for why the Bills would be interested in Addison, is that even though he is older, he is still performing at a high level. He has had four straight seasons with nine or more sacks, including 9.5 this past year.

In addition, he knows McDermott’s defense well from his time as defensive coordinator with the Panthers. There wouldn’t be much of a learning curve for Addison and seems to be the perfect veteran fit for this team.
