2. Defensive End

The three position groups prior to this one are more luxury upgrades. If the Bills don’t add to those positions, it wouldn’t necessarily be the worst thing. However, the one position that the Bills must address this offseason is defensive end.

The Bills didn’t get a great deal of production from the position this past season as Jerry Hughes, Trent Murphy and Shaq Lawson combined for only 16 sacks on the year. On top of this, the leader in this group, Shaq Lawson, is a free agent this offseason.

The Bills’ front office must first decide if they want to re-sign Lawson, who did have a career year. If the price tag isn’t too large, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him back in Buffalo next year.

However, even if the team does bring back Lawson, they should still try to add another pass rusher to this group. Jerry Hughes is 31 years old and coming off a down year while Trent Murphy is 29, he has a history of injuries and shouldn’t be relied on.

If the Bills spend big in free agency this offseason, this is the one position that would make the most sense.
