Buffalo Bills: Position Grades from Week 1 win
Linebacker
The starting trio of Matt Milano, Tremaine Edmunds and Lorenzo Alexander were making plays all over the field for this defense. The fact that the defensive line controlled the line of scrimmage it allowed these linebackers to move more freely around the field and attack the ball carrier.
Milano finished tied for the team lead with nine tackles and Edmunds was not far behind with eight. Alexander added four tackles as well and also was credited with half of a sack.
The ability of this group to contain a player like Le’Veon Bell, who only averaged 3.5 yards per carry and 5.3 yards per reception, is an accomplishment. They were able to stop Bell from making a game changing play and his longest run of the day was for only 12 yards and his longest reception was only 11.
They will need a similar performance going up against another top running back in Saquon Barkley in Week 2 against the New York Giants.
