Shaq Lawson

The Buffalo Bills selected Shaq Lawson with the 19th overall pick in 2016 and while the former Clemson Tiger has shown flashes of that potential, he hasn’t been able to sustain that level of play. This was likely one of the reasons the front office elected to not pick up his fifth-year option earlier this offseason.

One of the concerns with Lawson has been his health as he missed the start of his rookie season due to a shoulder injury and then was placed on injured reserve in 2017 with an ankle injury. In the first three years in the league, Lawson has played in only 35 out of a possible 48 games.

While he has had the injury concerns and even though the Bills did not pick up his fifth-year option, this does not mean his time in Buffalo will end after this season. Lawson really played well down the stretch last season and had three sacks and five passes defended in the final seven games, including two sacks in the final game against Miami.

If Lawson is able to play well consistently over all 16 games, and that will be key is to play all 16 games, he could be in line for a nice contract after this year.
