Vosean Joseph

It was a quiet week for Vosean Joseph as he saw no snaps on defense but did play six snaps on special teams. This is likely what the role for the rookie linebacker will be this upcoming season, contributing mostly on special teams.

Jaquan Johnson

The Bills’ safety had the play of the game that helped seal the team’s victory. He was able to force a fumble, then recover it, on the Lions’ final drive as they were closing in on the end zone. He finished the game with three tackles and one pass defended to go with the fumble.

The depth at the safety position is one of the strengths of this Bills’ defense and this will make it tough for Johnson to move up the depth chart. However, similar to Joseph, he should be able to make an impact on special teams.

Darryl Johnson

The seventh round pick played almost half of the Bills’ defensive snaps with 36 against the Lions. He finished the game with two tackles and one QB hit but saw his streak of one sack per game come to an end. However, the defensive end has looked great this preseason and has moved his way up the depth chart, likely behind the Bills’ Top 3.

Tommy Sweeney

The other seventh round pick by the Buffalo Bills looks like he will also be contributing this season as a rookie. Tommy Sweeney has looked good this summer and through preseason the additional snaps. He played six fewer snaps than Knox, with only 10, but similar to Knox had no receptions or targets.

There is no reason to think that Sweeney or Knox will be held out of the final preseason game so these are two players worth keeping a close eye on.
