Running Back

The Bills are likely to keep four running backs on their 53-man roster which leaves one roster spot behind LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore and Devin Singletary. This makes it a three player battle, similar to the wide receiver position, between T.J. Yeldon, Senorise Perry and Marcus Murphy.

After the first preseason game, Senorise Perry seemed to be the favorite mainly due to his experience on special teams. He played well with four carries, 10 rushing yards and a touchdown to go along with a 15-yard reception. However, more importantly he didn’t turn the ball over, which is something T.J. Yeldon did against the Colts.

However, the ball security issue switched and it was Perry who fumbled against the Panthers and he then missed the game against the Lions with a quad injury.

Meanwhile, T.J. Yeldon has bounced back from a poor performance in the first preseason game. He has 26 rushing yards on 10 carries in addition to four receptions on five targets for 61 receiving yards.

The last player in this group would be Marcus Murphy, who played well last year for the Bills, and has been steady through all three games. Over the course of three games, Murphy has 72 rushing yards on 19 carries.

This is going to be tough and the coaching staff will need to determine if they value the special teams play of Perry, the experience in the offense of Murphy or the skill set of Yeldon.

Prediction: T.J. Yeldon
