Robert Foster – WR

Robert Foster burst onto the scene as an undrafted rookie in 2018. After being cut by the Bills mid-season, he came back for the end and produced in a big way. The speedster built chemistry with Josh Allen as his deep threat, and his stat line reflects it. While playing just 13 games (three starts), Foster finished second on the team in yards with 541 and had three 100+ yard outings in the second half of the season.

Despite receiving limited snaps and being cut by the Bills mid-season, Foster showed more than enough to not only make the roster for 2019 but be a focal point of it too. His speed (4.41 second 40-time) is impressive, but his growth through his rookie year is even more so.

However, the Bills upgraded the position mightily in 2019 with productive veteran receivers. In turn, likely putting Foster fourth on the depth chart, barring pre-season injuries.

Though the Bills added talent in the off-season, namely John Brown and Cole Beasley, Foster is still in contention to be the No. 1 receiver by season’s end. Buffalo doesn’t yet have a true go-to option on the roster–despite many thinking, Zay Jones can be that guy–Foster showed that he has the potential to be that towards the end of his rookie year.

As an undrafted player on his rookie deal, Foster’s contract has a minimal cap hit of $570 thousand, but he is an exclusive rights free agent after next season. This means the Bills will be able to tag him and lock him up through 2021, with him being unrestricted the following year. Like with the other young players on this list, extending Foster sooner rather than later will be the Bills’ best interest, considering his lower league-wide value at the moment.
