The leader of the pack: Tre’Davious White

Since being drafted at No. 27 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, Tre’Davious White has been the Bills starter and leader of the cornerback group. No matter if the defense plays him in zone or man coverage, the LSU product has been able to make an impact week in, week out.

Though he’s never made a Pro-Bowl or All-Pro appearance, there is little doubt of White budding star status in the league. But, he’s far more than potential alone — he’s also already one of the better cornerbacks in the league and hasn’t missed a game as a pro.

In two seasons of play, White has tallied a total of six interceptions, 26 pass deflections, and 123 total tackles. Pro Football Focus pegged him as their best rookie cornerback in 2017 and gave him a 91.6 grade; which ranked third in the NFL for all corners. Though they graded him significantly lower in year two, White continued his excellent play as a sophomore.

In 2018, White did earn his fair share of penalties, but he played the part of a lockdown cornerback well. He was often tasked with shadowing a team’s best receiver and was a huge component of the Bills’ league-leading pass defense.  For the 2018 season, per PFF, he allowed just 30 catches and 357 yards. The Bills are hoping that he keeps up the stingy defense entering year three.
