LANDOVER, MD – DECEMBER 20: Quarterback Tyrod Taylor

Last year in fantasy football the Buffalo Bills were a surprisingly good addition to your team.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor was a top ten fantasy football player, running back LeSean McCoy was the third best running back in the league, only trailing Dallas’ Ezekiel Elliott and Arizona’s David Johnson. Will we see a repeat from Taylor and McCoy or will one of them take a tumble?

Who To Avoid:

Tyrod Taylor

Yes, Taylor is coming off a great year in fantasy football for 2016, but 2017 might be a little different. Taylor did have 3,023 passing yards with 17 touchdowns and six interceptions; he also managed to rush for 580 yards and had six touchdowns on the ground. But that was all under Offensive Coordinator Anthony Lynn, who is now the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Bills replaced Lynn with former Broncos offensive coordinator, Rick Dennison. Dennison is no stranger to having a solid defense behind him and having a shaky offense to work with after all that solid defense behind him earned Dennison a Super Bowl 50 ring. It’s a big jump to go from Lynn’s run heavy offense that allowed Taylor to work his magic on the ground. To Dennison’s short completion, quick throw, West Coast offense.

I’m not saying Taylor isn’t a good quarterback to have on your fantasy team, but if you’re expecting the same type of production as last year, you may want to avoid him in the later rounds.

Who To Grab:

LeSean McCoy

Last year LeSean McCoy was the third best running back in the NFL. Only behind Arizona’s breathtaking David Johnson and Dallas’ Ezekiel Elliott. Now with Sammy Watkins gone, Jordan Matthews injured and Anquan Boldin recently deciding to hang em’ up, the offense should be all LeSean now going forward. Expect LeSean to be a touchdown per game type of player this year, if you can get him any spot after fourth in the first round, it’s a steal.

Who To Avoid:

Charles Clay

Let’s be honest here. If you’re drafting Charles Clay that’s your first problem. There are way better tight-ends you can find in the later rounds of your draft. Guys like Hunter Henry, O.J. Howard, Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph. In Clays two years in Buffalo so far, he’s only racked up 1,080 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. If something happens in your draft where the more superior tight-ends are gone with Clay and Julius Thomas being left. Take Thomas.

Who To Grab:

Zay Jones

Jordan Matthews, hurt. Sammy Watkins, traded. Anquan Boldin, retired. With all the wide-receiver problems happening before the season kicks off, it will be interesting to see how Zay Jones handles his first season in Buffalo. I believe though Jones will excel. In his four years at East Carolina Jones’ numbers improved in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns each and every year. Take Jones around round twelve for a nice sleeper.

Who To Avoid:

Bills Defense

I’m a fan of the Bills defense. But I think this year they might take a beating. Yes, they’ve added guys on defense, like Micah Hyde and have Reggie Ragland making his return this year but the schedule is not in the defenses favor. Rookie cornerback, Tre’Davious White will have to go up against stars like A.J. Green, Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, Keenan Allen and Julio Jones in his very first year. That’s a difficult pill to swallow. I do believe our defense is on the rise but this year may not be the year.

Who To Grab:

Nathan Peterman:

ORCHARD PARK, NY – AUGUST 10: Nathan Peterman

So you probably don’t need to draft Peterman, but you should keep him in mind as the season progresses. He won’t get drafted at all in any leagues I would assume, but head coach Sean McDermott has said that the quarterback position is up for grabs. He’s looked far more impressive than Taylor has so far in preseason and isn’t afraid to take the deep shot. If Peterman does win the quarterback spot, he is somebody to have on your team during the last few rounds of a draft or even on your bench.
