Marrone to make decision on Manuel

As of right now, Jeff Tuel is the starter for week 1.  With Kolb out with a concussion and Manuel nursing a knee, the Bills brought in two more QBs to add some depth for the last week of the preseason.  Leinart and Lewis will probably not even be close to being ready to play in week 1, I don’t think that they will be ready for Thursday.  Marrone has, however, laid out a plan that EJ will have to meet to make the week 1 start against the Patriots.

“I think I’ll know a lot from that right on the first day when he comes back,” he said. “Meaning that when he goes out there that first day and he practices we’ll see how, for lack of a better term, how rusty he may be and if he made need more (time).”

Marrone will be looking to see how well Manuel can make his pre-snap reads, checks, and decision making.  He feels that physically, Manuel should bounce back quickly.

“That’s why one of the ways we’re training him right now mentally is getting him as much work as possible,” said Marrone. “Now he’s started the physical work, which is good so as soon as we can get out there and get him to start throwing again. That’ll help in the process, but the first day he’s out there doing anything I’ll have a good feel for how long it may be.”

As of right now there are 12 days for Manuel to get ready to make the starting lineup against the Pats.  Is it enough time though?
