Earlier this week the Buffalo Bills announced a new agreement to play more games in Toronto. When I heard the news I thought same old Bills. Why on earth do they want to keep playing games there?

Back when the first deal was reached I had questioned why the team would ever do this. The money sure was good for the team but was that absolutely needed? The teams in the league get so much money from TV deals and other ways and made it hard for me to really accept the decision.

One major thing I have a problem with is that the best fans in the league now have to miss a game. They have been through every scenario both good and bad and have always come back to cheer on their team. Now people might say what’s the big deal and just go to the game in Toronto. What if fans can’t go in to Canada? Don’t have or want to get an enhanced license or passport or simply just don’t want to support the Bills in Toronto. Also what if that game is meaningful? Division game?

Now on the other side I can see where the Bills are trying to market their product to a larger market but with me it doesn’t work. If this team wanted to accomplish that they could just start winning games. As crazy at that sounds people in the world love to jump on bandwagons and like teams that are winning. I believe with the emergence of CJ Spiller becoming a potential top 5 back and also us drafting a franchise quarterback it’s a good start. Our coach has the chance to build a team of his likings and hopefully it’s a winner.

With that being said I hope the Bills look at their fans in the long run and really re think the Toronto series if they were in this position again. Although I’m not a fan of basketball, Toronto should be willing to maybe let the Raptors play a game in Buffalo or even the Blue Jays. What does everyone else think?

Well, as we reported earlier today the Bills have renewed their agreement with the Rogers Centre to continue playing regular season games in Toronto for the next five years. Not surprisingly, this was met by incredible resentment from many fans in Buffalo.

The terms of the deal have not been released, but it is known that the deal will include a regular season game each year as well as one extra exhibition game. It is thought that the team is receiving far less money than they did when the agreement first came into place.

We will not know which game will be played in Toronto this season until the NFL schedule is released sometime in April. Ticket prices are the same as last season’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Bills held a press conference at the Rogers Centre today to announce the deal. Russ Brandon and Doug Marrone were both in attendance. Brandon stressed the importance of the series to the longevity of the Bills’ future in Buffalo.

The Bills have made many moves of late to try and extend the team’s footprint, including hosting training camp at St. John Fisher and the games in Toronto. Do you think these really do help the team remain stable, or they are just a money grab? We will have more reactions from the announcement coming here on Buffalowdown, so make sure to check back!
