With the Chiefs resigning Dwayne Bowe earlier this week, its clear that Greg Jennings is likely the top wide receiver available (because I still can’t see Wes Welker leaving New England, especially with Brady’s new restructured deal). When it comes to potential fits across from Stevie Johnson, Jennings would be an outstanding option.

Although Jennings didn’t have an outstanding year this year, with only 366 yards in the regular season, he shown in the past that he can put up much better numbers than that and Aaron Rodgers had a ton of options to choose from this season. Its also important to look at his playoff totals, where he recorded 155 yards when it mattered the most. At 29 years of age and 96 games played he has the experience that this unit desperately needs.

Jennings isn’t the huge receiver that I think the Bills really need. At At 5’11″ he’s actually three inches shorter than Johnson. However, he has the skills to make up for it and top notch receivers don’t exactly grow on trees. That does lead us into another problem when it comes to the former Packer though.

With the lack of depth at the wide receiver position in free agency, teams could be in for quite the bidding war. Here’s where the Bills need to be careful. If the price gets too high, they need to step away. Sometimes you need to pay a bit more to get guys to come here (cough cough Mario Williams) but the Bills don’t actually have all that much cap room. This is a team with holes everywhere, and if you pour in too much money here it could seriously hinder your ability to address other positions.

If you see Jennings sign with another team for a ludicrous price tag, don’t be too frustrated with your home town team. Jennings is an option, but not one many would consider close to reality. But heck, the way last year’s free agency went, you never know.

As a follow-up to a previous article on the options of WRs on the free agent market and the likelihood they will come to Buffalo, there is one additional WR that could be on the market that I personally did not think would be there come free agent time.

Greg Jennings has reportedly put his Green Bay home on the market with a price tag of $525,000. The likelihood that Jennings becomes a Bill is probably very unlikely, mainly because of the price tag that would come with a player of his caliber. It is nice to hope and pray that the Bills make another free agent splash and pick up arguably one of the best WR on the free agent market, if he comes through and makes it that far.

Green Bay has shown that they are willing to let a player go a year early before they keep one a couple years beyond their prime. This could be interesting.
